Ian Carew
Managing Director & Venture Partner
Northleaf Capital

Ian participates in all aspects of Northleaf’s private equity investment activities, with a focus on the origination, evaluation and monitoring of the firm’s private equity and venture capital investments, particularly in North America and Asia/Rest of World. Ian serves on the advisory boards of several partnerships within Northleaf’s portfolio.

Prior to joining Northleaf’s predecessor, TD Capital, in 2008, Ian worked at CalPERS, helping manage a $40 billion private equity program, where he was responsible for the global venture capital and Asia private equity strategies and served on the Infrastructure Advisory Committee involved in the approval of an approximately $3 billion initial infrastructure allocation. Previously, Ian was a Partner with KIMC, a boutique private equity advisory firm, and spent six years in the venture capital group at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan executing a fund and co-investment strategy. Ian’s prior experience includes various financial and accounting roles.

Ian received a Bachelor of Commerce and Graduate Diploma in Accountancy from Concordia University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Lydia Hao
Managing Director
HarbourVest

Lydia Hao joined HarbourVest’s primary partnership team in Hong Kong in 2021 and focuses on Asia-Pacific investments.

She was previously a Principal in Neuberger Berman’s private equity team, where she led the firm’s primary funds, co-investments, and secondary investments in the Greater China region. Prior to joining Neuberger Berman in 2017, Lydia spent seven years at CPP Investment Board in Hong Kong as one of the founding members of the Private Equity Asia team, building its direct investment portfolio across the Asia-Pacific region. Previously, she was based in New York where she worked at Apax Partners focused on US private equity buyouts in the consumer and TMT sectors, and worked at UBS Investment Bank in the Mergers and Acquisitions group advising clients across various industries.

Lydia received a Bachelor of Science (summa cum laude) in Hotel Administration, from Cornell University. She speaks fluent Mandarin.

His career at Royal Bank of Canada included roles in Personal, Commercial and Private Banking Leadership. Using his trusted internal RBC relationships and a deep network within Asia, Iggy is able to speed up and simplify solutions for our most valued clients, giving them access to the powerful capabilities of RBC in Global Investment Banking, Global Asset Management, Wealth Structuring, Commercial & Corporate Lending our Venture Capital capabilities in RBCx.

After emigrating to Canada at an early age, Iggy graduated from the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Marketing. He is Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB).

Iggy has a history of service to the Canadian community particularly to UBC where he is Past President and Leadership Council Chair of the UBC Alumni Hong Kong. He is a Governor of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and longtime member of the Vancouver Board of Trade. He is a lifelong learner with deep interest in digital business, scaling global business and all aspects of technology.
