CCBC’s China Ready Webinar Series is back for its third edition and we are ready to run another set of educational webinars to fill your China toolbox. Introduced in 2020, this series provides SME executives with the knowledge and insight needed to launch into the China market successfully. Designed for those considering China for trade diversification or who are curious but not sure where to start, the modules in this series cover a range of topics related to doing business in China. As China continues to rebound from COVID-19, the demand for Canadian branded products will continue to be strong.

 

Participants who complete all six sessions will receive a ‘CCBC China Ready’ certificate. Sessions are free of charge for CCBC members; $25+HST per session or $100+HST for all 6 sessions for non-members.

This webinar session was designed for business owners and entrepreneurs looking to better understand China’s legal landscape today. Tianpeng WANG, CEO and Founder of Trustiics, provided expert guidance on navigating any legal matters related to your business. A seasoned international business lawyer with extensive experience in China, Tianpeng highlighted common legal issues that multinational companies face when doing business with the Chinese market. Attendees gained practical tips on legal-related issues such as: IPR protection, preventing business partner risks, avoiding contract risks, and setting up or closing subsidiaries in China.

Jack Wu leads the Acadia team with an extensive international accounting and taxation background and a keen understanding of practical issues that arise while doing business in China. Jack has experience working in China on virtually all kinds of business operations including setting up a legal structure, market entry, human resource strategy, taxation, accounting, import/export regulations, sourcing, and cross-border fund flows.

 

Jack and his team have been trusted partners to Sino-foreign Joint Ventures, manufacturing plants from setup to maturity, Fast Moving Consumer goods brands, restaurant chains, and fund managers, financial institutes as China increasingly opened more industry sectors to foreign investment in recent years.

 

Jack is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the US and received his MBA degree from the University of Tennessee. He has been a frequent speaker in the foreign chamber of commerce and spoke globally in the US, Canada, Germany, Singapore, The Netherlands, and Hong Kong. Before joining Acadia, Jack was the Executive Director of Vistra China, in charge of the International Expansion unit.

As Regional Director of Western Canada, Lotta is responsible for building the CCBC membership base throughout the region by connecting Canadian and Chinese businesses, promoting Canada-China bilateral trade, organizing events and supporting the delivery of member services. Lotta has over 10 years of marketing experience in the technology, marketing research, communications and art sectors. Prior to joining the CCBC, she was Marketing Manager at the China-Britain Business Council based in the UK, promoting trade and business with China and organizing high-calibre events involving the Chinese Premier and the Prime Minister of Great Britain.

 

Lotta spent several years living in China, where she studied and worked for a local company that developed products for the Chinese market. Lotta studied Mandarin at the University of Nanjing and Nanjing Normal University. She holds a BA in Chinese and BSc in Social and Economic Geography from Uppsala University, Sweden.
