CCBC’s 45th AGM & Business Forum
CCBC’s 45th AGM & Business Forum was a resounding success, held on October 31, 2023, at the China World Summit Wing Hotel in Beijing. With over 420 attendees, including executives, officials, and entrepreneurs from both Canada and China, the event marked a significant milestone in Canada-China business relations. The 2023 AGM held special significance as it was the first one to take place after the removal of COVID-zero travel restrictions earlier in the year, allowing over 100 international travelers to participate.
The day began with the AGM Business Forum, where we had three dynamic panel discussions covering agrifood, natural resources, and the consumer economy. These discussions offered a deep dive into the economic opportunities and challenges for businesses operating in these sectors, featuring thought leaders and senior executives renowned for their expertise.
The AGM Business Dinner featured prominent guest speakers, including former prime minister of Canada The Right Honourable Jean Chrétien; China International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce H.E. Shouwen WANG; Ambassador of Canada to the People’s Republic of China H.E. Jennifer May; Vice Chairman, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Mr. Jianlong YU; and Mr. Olivier Desmarais, Chair of CCBC’s Board of Directors, who provided valuable insights on the bilateral relationship.
This year’s AGM coincided with three concurrent CCBC business missions from Canada: one for women entrepreneurs, one for education professionals, and an Indigenous delegation. These missions help our membership better reflect Canada’s diversity by ensuring we actively support all communities in fostering business ties with China.
