Remembering the Honourable John McCallum

The Canada China Business Council (CCBC) is deeply saddened by the passing of the Honourable John McCallum, former Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister, and Canadian Ambassador to China, who passed away this past weekend.

John McCallum was a valued friend of the Canada-China business community. He participated in numerous CCBC events and engagements over the years, and his enduring commitment to strengthening bilateral relations was appreciated by our members and stakeholders across both countries.

As Canada’s Ambassador to China, Mr. McCallum played a pivotal role in advancing dialogue, promoting mutual understanding between our two nations and strengthening people-to-people ties. His contributions to public service and diplomacy have left a lasting impact.
