CCBC’S PAST EVENTS

Mr. JIANG Zengwei, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and former Vice Minister of Commerce of the PRC, led a delegation of prominent Chinese business people, who are exploring investment opportunities between Canada and China. CCBC members and guests had the opportunity to meet and network with the delegation at a CCBC business luncheon in Toronto on Friday, April 20, 2018.

CCBC held a breakfast networking session in Toronto on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, to inform members and guests about the many opportunities available at the 123rd China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, in Guangzhou, China, from April 15 to May 5, 2018.

A China-BC Networking Reception: Connecting Education, Business, and Government was held by CCBC’s BC Chapter, the BC Council for International Education (BCCIE) and the Consulate General of the PRC in Vancouver. This was the first BC Chapter event that highlighted the new CCBC education strategy.

The Honourable Bruce Ralston, BC Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, and TONG Xiaoling, CG of the PRC in Vancouver, discussed the Canada and China relationship on Tuesday, March 27 in Vancouver.

The Honourable John McCallum, ambassador of Canada to the People’s Republic of China, and LU Xu, consul general of the PRC to Calgary, addressed CCBC members and guests at a luncheon in Calgary on March 20.

HE Wei, the recently appointed Consul General of the PRC in Toronto, was the honoured guest speaker at a luncheon in Toronto. Mr. HE discussed the Canada-China business relationship and how businesses in Ontario can continue moving forward with their China strategies.

CCBC, in partnership with MNP, presented a seminar on corporate tax in Montreal.

Jeff David, the new Consul General of Canada in Chongqing, discussed opportunities for Canadian businesses in southwest China including Chongqing and the provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou at a business luncheon on March 7, 2018 in Toronto.

CCBC held a luncheon to update members on the leadership transitions announced at the 19th National Congress
of the Communist Party of China. Our Executive Director, Sarah Kutulakos, discussed who’s in, who’s out, and how these changes can affect Canadian businesses in China. Mr. Guy St-Jacques, former Ambassador of Canada to China, shared his perspectives on the implications for Canada as a result of these decisions and policies.
