Celebrating the Year of the Horse in Montréal: A New Chapter in Canada–China Relations
On February 18, 2026, the Canada China Business Council (CCBC) welcomed members, partners, and the broader business community in Montréal to celebrate the Year of the Horse and to reflect on the outlook for Canada–China commercial relations in the year ahead.
The reception provided a timely opportunity for business leaders and stakeholders to exchange views following Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent visit to China. Discussions focused on the implications of the visit for trade, investment, and broader commercial engagement, as well as the priorities shaping the bilateral relationship in 2026.
We were honoured to welcome DAI Yuming, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Montréal, who delivered special remarks underscoring the importance of continued dialogue and practical cooperation.
Perspectives were also shared by members of CCBC’s leadership and the business community, including The Honourable Martin Cauchon, P.C., LL.M., ICD.D, Ad. E., Counsel at Prelia and Vice-Chair of CCBC, and Angela D’Angelo, Vice-President, Business Development and Growth, Quebec, Scotia Wealth Management. Speakers offered reflections on recent high-level engagement and shared insights on market conditions, sectoral opportunities, and the outlook for Canada–China business relations.
The evening also provided valuable networking opportunities, enabling participants to reconnect with peers, strengthen partnerships, and build new relationships in a festive Lunar New Year setting.
CCBC extends its sincere appreciation to our speakers and to our co-hosts, Prelia and Scotia Wealth Management, for their leadership and support in making this event possible. We look forward to continued engagement with our members and partners as we advance Canada–China business relations in the year ahead.
