CCBC Hosts Business Roundtable with Premier Moe and Parliamentary Secretary Blois in Beijing
On September 8, 2025, the Canada China Business Council (CCBC) Beijing Office, in collaboration with the Saskatchewan China Office, hosted a breakfast roundtable in Beijing with the Honourable Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan; the Honourable Kody Blois, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister of Canada; and H.E. Jennifer May, Ambassador of Canada to the People’s Republic of China. The meeting welcomed the visiting delegation from Saskatchewan and Ottawa.
The event commenced with opening remarks from Premier Moe, Parliamentary Secretary Blois, and Ambassador May, followed by an open discussion moderated by David Perez-Des Rosiers, Chief Representative of CCBC Beijing.
Distinguished business representatives with operations in Saskatchewan shared valuable perspectives on the impact of ongoing tariffs and the opportunities and challenges for expanding business in China. They highlighted the importance of the decision by Prime Minister Carney and Premier Li Qiang to reconvene the Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETC) as a constructive step toward resolving bilateral issues and expanding bilateral economic relations.
With the shared goal of recalibrating and strengthening Canada–China economic ties, CCBC and the participating business leaders underscored the significance of Premier Moe and Parliamentary Secretary Blois’ visit. They expressed hope that such high-level engagements will pave the way for more constructive government-to-government dialogue in the near future to address outstanding trade issues and unlock new opportunities for bilateral cooperation and growth.
