Lory Wang
CEO
Arctica Food Group Canada Inc.

Biography

Lory Wang is a foodie and second-generation entrepreneur. After her studies in finance and accounting, and several years auditing SMEs, she decided to take the plunge. With the awakening of the Chinese market for imported goods and her love of food, she co-founded Arctica Food Group Canada in 2012. The group’s mission has always been to offer natural, healthy and delicious food, with a certain cachet, in which west meets east. Arctica Food became the pioneer and leading brand in Canadian wild sea cucumbers and established Quebec’s sea cucumber industry. Since the Chinese middle class clientele is open-minded but exposed to too many options, Arctica Food focuses on food education to build product recognition and brand loyalty. With her team, Lory continues to develop new food products that are nutritious and customized to the eating behaviours of the Chinese consumer, such as honey, soybeans, cooking oil, health supplements, etc. As a board member of Groupe Export Agroalimentaire, she wants to promote Quebec’s high-quality food products, sometimes even unknown locally, and encourage more people to export overseas and to build international relationships. Food brings us closer; let’s share it together!

FROM OUR PAST MISSION DELEGATES

“My biggest takeaway was the connections that are leading me to my next best steps. Small businesses have to enter China in a very different way than larger companies. I am confident I have now found the best way to try that makes sense for my business in its current stage. I have successfully filed IP protection, know my next steps, and have so many new resources – especially the Trade Commissioners. I never knew this department existed and they have been a wonderful resource for me.”

Alison Brett, CEO and Founder, Clasp Magic Inc.

“Was a really good experience and would encourage others to join.”

Ryan Knight, CEO, Detailing Knights Canada Inc.

My biggest takeaway: So many people with inspirational stories, [I got a] better understanding of what Trade Commissioners can do.”

Lory Wang, CEO and Founder, Arctica Food Group Canada Inc.

“Biggest takeaway: Learning all the small details and nuances in dealing with China but also networking was invaluable. It is difficult to pull such an important business opportunity virtually…Nonetheless the CCBC did a good job providing top presenters and presentations that zeroed in on relevant topics for the benefit of the mission delegates.”

Daniel Kaye, President, PAN-X Corp.

“Biggest takeaway: New relationships and potential business interests.”

Raymond Hatfield, Chair, Biscotasing Citizens Committee Inc.
