CCBC’s China Ready Webinar Series is back for its third edition and we are ready to run another set of educational webinars to fill your China toolbox. Introduced in 2020, this series provides SME executives with the knowledge and insight needed to launch into the China market successfully. Designed for those considering China for trade diversification or who are curious but not sure where to start, the modules in this series cover a range of topics related to doing business in China. As China continues to rebound from COVID-19, the demand for Canadian branded products will continue to be strong.

 

Participants who complete all six sessions will receive a ‘CCBC China Ready’ certificate. Sessions are free of charge for CCBC members; $25+HST per session or $100+HST for all 6 sessions for non-members.

We were delighted to have valuable insights from Callan Anderson, CEO, Hong Kong Corporate Services Group, and Carl Breau, CEO, Saimen, who explored how to find trustworthy and reliable sources – what are they and how do you evaluate them? If things don’t go as planned, what are the legal risks and how do you protect yourself? Jeff Zhang, Regional Director, Central Canada, CCBC, moderated the session, and Gary Scales, Office Lead Partner, McInnes Cooper, and Tianpeng WANG, CEO and Founder, Trustiics, gave sponsor remarks.

Callan Anderson

Callan hails from the United Kingdom, having grown up in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he was involved in business consulting at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce. Callan has also been Chairman of several non-governmental charitable entities, as well as serving a period as General Manager of a United Nations infrastructure company during the Bosnian War 1992- 1995. Callan is a business specialist with significant private and public-sector experience in strategic and business planning, human resource management and corporate services.  

 

With over 25 years’ experience in management and consulting, Callan has been instrumental in assisting firms from Australia, Canada, UK and USA to develop a presence in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Since Callan’s first appointment in Asia since 1999, he has led many global firms in their expansion within the region, as well as taking up voluntary posts including Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.  

 

He is a Fellow of the following organisations; The Hong Kong Institute of Directors, the UK Institute of Directors and The Royal Society of the Arts and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. 

 

 

Carl Breau
CEO
Saimen

 

Carl Breau is a Canadian engineer and CEO of companies Nummax and Saimen, and Associate at Creative Destruction Lab. He is also a Professional Board Member for many companies. Carl is an recipient of the Medal of Exceptional Achievement from the Canadian Council of Engineers.

 

Nummax, who also owns Libertevision and the brand Onvision, is the largest LED display manufacturer in Canada. Saimen is the largest Canadian-owned OEM factory in China. It does technical procurement, product engineering and product assembly. Its licenses are for electronics and electromechanical devices.  

 

Carl is a frequent speaker and university lecturer on the topic of Technology Management, and a guest lecturer and MBA program mentor at CEIBS in Shanghai. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from Polytechnique Montreal, and has a Board Member Certification from UCLA. He also holds a Certificate in Higher Education Teaching from Harvard University. He spends his time mostly between Montreal, Cambridge and Shanghai.

Jeff has over 20 years of international experience in private, public and non-profit organizations in a variety of sectors including E-commerce, oil and gas, retail, commercial real estate, education and financial services. Prior to joining CCBC, Jeff worked in establishment and operation management at a Sino-Foreign joint venture company and in strategic partnership management at a Fortune 500 multinational company. He also led and assisted a number of Canadian companies and educational institutions into China where he was responsible for strategic partnerships and branding establishment.

 

Jeff has an MBA in marketing and international business from Concordia University in Montreal and is fluent in Mandarin and English. He has also been a guest speaker at professional business associations in China and Canada.
