On February 13, 2025, CCBC held a series of high-level meetings in Beijing with representatives from the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA), the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), and the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC). Held alongside the visit of Christopher White, President and CEO of Canadian Meat Council and Canada Pork, these meetings focused on advancing bilateral cooperation in the agrifood sector and addressing the implications of the current geopolitical landscape. The discussions were open and constructive, serving as a valuable platform for practical collaboration and an exchange of perspectives on shared priorities. These engagements significantly deepened mutual understanding and reinforced the importance of maintaining strong bilateral ties.

Insights from GACC, MOFCOM, and CFNA representatives were highly informative, and we greatly appreciate the time and effort extended by all parties. Mr. White shared key perspectives on trade policies and emphasized the importance of maintaining and enhancing market access for Canadian red meat products. David Perez-Des Rosiers, CCBC’s Chief Representative in Beijing, provided an overview of recent political and economic developments in Canada. He underscored the need for stable and ongoing cooperation with Chinese counterparts to address current challenges in a mutually beneficial manner.

These meetings reflect CCBC’s commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration between Canada and China. For more details on our advocacy initiatives or to learn more about our key engagements with Chinese officials, please contact us at Candice@ccbc.com.cn.
