Doing business abroad can offer its share of challenges, but exporting to China does not have to be a mystery. CCBC’s six-part China Ready series of webinars is designed to provide guidance and expert advice to companies interested in exporting to China. The fourth in the series, A Guide to Exporting to China, held on August 12 helped guide Canadian exporters through the various possible logistics channels.

Cindy Ho

Lawyer at DS Lawyers Canada LLP and member of Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia Bars

 

Cindy Ho specializes in business law and works in a wide range of fields, including corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, public and regulatory law. She assists corporations in their general business operations, from research to negotiating and drafting of agreements. She is involved in national and international transactions, with a particular emphasis on China-related matters.

Emily Dalphy

Product Operations Lead at Export Development Canada

 

Emily is the Product Operations lead for the Export Help team where she oversees the end-to-end delivery of the export advisory service. Emily is a Certified International Trade Professional (CITP®) and has a range of sector experience and knowledge obtained both internally and externally to the organization.

 

In her previous role at EDC on the Global Trade team, Emily supported Canadian companies in winning contracts with foreign buyers in the advanced manufacturing and advanced technologies sectors. Before joining EDC, Emily worked in Japan for a large multinational automotive manufacturer supporting their global sourcing strategy.

 

Kevin Sullivan

Senior Manager – Mid Market at Export Development Canada

 

Kevin Sullivan joined EDC in 2012 and currently contributes as Senior Manager – Mid Market where he works closely with high-growth Canadian exporters and their international subsidiaries on trade finance and risk mitigation strategies.

 

Prior to joining EDC, Kevin was stationed in China for over six years working in various capacities for Joh. Berenberg Bank and Neilsen Banbridge Group.

 

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Francis Xavier University and École Supérieure de Commerce d’Amiens, France and Certificates in Mandarin Studies from Donghua University, Shanghai.

 

About the moderator:

 

Philippe Jeanneau

Director, Quebec Chapter – Prairies Chapter, Canada China Business Council

 

Philippe is responsible for building the CCBC membership base by connecting Canadian and Chinese businesses, promoting bilateral trade, organizing events, and delivering member services. He has over 15 years of business experience in product design and development, consumer marketing, global trade, overseas manufacturing and sourcing. Prior to joining CCBC, Philippe owned a product design, development and sourcing business that connected Canadian companies with Chinese manufacturers. He worked for industry-leading companies including Reebok, Adidas, and CCM Hockey where he managed the development of state-of-the-art composite ice hockey sticks. Philippe also lived in Shanghai for a year to establish a Canadian-owned factory. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering, specialized in aeronautics, from the Polytechnique Montréal.
