The Canada China Business Council was pleased to bring our members a macroeconomic update from Beijing, with insights from the team at Finance Canada. Dr. Daniel Koldyk, Section Head for China, was joined by key staff member David Jean-Laniel. The duo brings decades of combined PRC experience to the table, and Dan has been a longstanding figure in the Canada China dialogue in both countries. Moderated by Noah Fraser, MD China for the CCBC, Finance Canada reported on the following topics:

• Part 1: High-Frequency Data: See where China is at, in real time
• Part 2: Q1 GDP Results: A look at consumption, investment and trade, as well as the 2020 forecast
• Part 3: Key Risks to the 2020 Outlook: Bankruptcies, unemployment, liquidity shock, global recession and a possible “second wave”
• Part 4: Moving from Crisis to Opportunity: Gain strategies for navigating stimulus spending and growth areas

CCBC held two webinars – one timed for those in Canada, and another for those in China. The sessions were free of charge for CCBC members in good standing.
