CCBC, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) and the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of the People\u2019s Republic of China jointly hosted a roundtable discussion focusing on the role of IP for Canadian companies doing business in China.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first presentation, CIPO Initiatives Supporting Canadian Companies Doing Business in China<\/strong>, featured Johanne B\u00e9lisle<\/strong>, Commissioner of Patents, Registrar of Trademarks and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. Ms. B\u00e9lisle spoke to CIPO\u2019s role in Canada\u2019s new Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy, which was announced on April 26, 2018. She provided the latest information on CIPO\u2019s initiatives and the learning tools and resources that better equip innovators and businesses with the IP knowledge they need to do business in China.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The second presentation, Latest Development of China in Promoting a Favourable IP Environment<\/strong>, welcomed SHEN Changyu<\/strong>, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People\u2019s Republic of China, who addressed the efforts made by China in creating and maintaining a good IP environment for both domestic and foreign enterprises, especially in terms of IP protection, IP public service and awareness promotion, and the SIPO-CIPO Patent Prosecution Highway pilot program.<\/p>\n

Following the presentations, Sarah Kutulakos<\/strong>, Executive Director of CCBC, moderated the roundtable discussion.<\/p>\n
