In addition\, Le Journal de Montréal has named her among the “most powerful women in real estate on Montréal’s South Shore\,” underscoring her broad influence in both the industry and the community. \n  \n \nBin Zeng\nPartner\nDentons \nBin Zeng is a partner in the Banking and Finance group of Dentons Canada LLP’s Montreal office. His practice focuses on Canadian and cross-border financing\, while he also advises on corporate and general commercial law. \nBin advises a wide range of clients in commercial credit transactions\, syndicated loans\, real estate lending\, asset-based lending\, project financing\, receivables financing\, as well as aircraft financing. Ms. Zhang is also actively involved in the China-Canada community in the Quebec region. \n  \n \nDavid M Saunders\, PhD\nDirector of International\, Desautels Faculty of Management\nMcGill University \nDavid Saunders is Director International\, Executive Director of Executive Education\, Academic Director of the China MBA for Executives\, and Professor (Administration) at Desautels Faculty of Management\, McGill University. David has over 20 years of experience as Dean\, leading two business schools to the prestigious Financial Times ranking\, and driving the schools’ globalization and strategic growth. He has created more than 100 strategic partnerships around the globe\, and has supervised executive and academic programs in several different countries including Canada\, UAE\, Oman\, Saudi Arabia\, Russia\, Ecuador\, China and Japan. \nDavid has served on the board of CEIBS (China)\, and the international advisory boards of SKEMA (France) and Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (Switzerland). David has also forged exclusive strategic relationships with both private (e.g.\, IBM) and public sector (e.g.\, The Canadian Olympic Committee) organizations to provide tailored business education to serve their needs. He served as Chair of the EQUIS Awarding Body and Vice-Chair of the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee\, as well as a board member of both EFMD and AACSB. \nDavid is an expert in negotiation and change management\, most recently working with organizations that are in the process of digitalizing. He earned a PhD in social psychology from Western University in Canada. \n  \n \nHenry Liu\nVice President\nPower Corporation \nMr. Liu has been Vice-President of Power Corporation since 2011. He oversees Power Corporation’s business development in Asia\, where the Corporation currently has a number of investments. Mr. Liu joined Power Corporation in 1995 and has since held various positions\, most recently as Financial Analyst and Director of Asian Affairs. Prior to joining Power Corporation\, Mr. Liu worked with China CITIC Group in Beijing.\nMr. Liu obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nanjing\, China\, earned an MBA from McGill University\, and is a CFA charter holder. \nHe serves as a member of the board of governors for the Jiuding Scholarship Program dedicated to Chinese students studying in Canada\, and is a member of the board of directors of the Montreal Chinese Hospital Foundation. In 2013\, he founded the Elite Times CPA Inc. firm in Montreal\, and soon expanded to Toronto and Vancouver. \nHis expertise is in both Canadian and Chinese taxation and accounting systems. A lot of his clients are high-net-worth immigrant investors\, immigrants\, and subsidiaries of Chinese companies. He uses his expertise in both countries to help Chinese entrepreneurs invest in Canada. There she held the role of Director\, National Grants Program\, for five years\, where she led a peer-reviewed granting program which supported child health researchers across the country. \nMs. Burrows has been an active volunteer in the charitable sector\, including as President for the Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs from 2009-2011. She holds a Master’s in Philosophy from Johns Hopkins and a BA from McGill University. \n \nTom Cumming\nDeputy Director (High Intensity Services)\nToronto Regional Office of the Trade Commissioner Service \nUpon completing studies in commerce at the University of Alberta and law at the University of Victoria\, Tom Cumming joined the federal government with Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Mr. Cumming was posted to the Embassy of Canada in Beijing and subsequently left the government to manage the operations of a Canadian software company in China. After having earned a MBA from the University of Navarra in Barcelona\, Spain\, Mr. Cumming established a trading company in China for the sourcing of industrial products. He was recognized as a distinguished scholar by the Academy for Global Business Advancement in 2012 and received President’s Service Award from Association of African Business and Development in 2021. Before joining Algoma\, he worked at the School of Computer Science at the University of Windsor. Dr. Xu also holds visiting appointments as Guest Professor at Wuhan University and Adjunct Professor at China University of Mining and Technology. Additionally\, he serves as CEO of the International Association for Computer and Information Science. \nDr. Xu’s academic background is distinguished and multidisciplinary. An award-winning educator in the classroom\, Dr. Wright is also sought out by senior executives to assist in the boardroom. He has provided a variety of training and research consultations to Canadian businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Dr. Wright is also an active volunteer in his community. Mr. Cauchon also facilitates the creation of partnerships at the provincial\, national\, and international levels. \nHaving established relationships with several counterparts in China\, Martin Cauchon has acquired a good knowledge of that market\, which allows him to intervene in projects that are related to the Canada-China relationship. \nAfter obtaining a law degree from the University of Ottawa\, Mr. Cauchon became a member of the Quebec Bar in 1985 and completed a master degree in International Business Law in 1991\, at the University of Exeter\, in England. He was the 2004 recipient of the Equality Forum’s International Role Model Award. In 2015\, he received the honorary distinction of “Advocatus emeritus” and “Le Mérite” from the Quebec Bar. He is also Vice Chair\, Board of Directors of the Canada China Business Council and Chair of its Quebec Chapter Advisory Council. He also serves on the board of directors of several companies. \n \nPaul Evans\nProfessor Emeritus in the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs\nUniversity of British Columbia (UBC) \nPaul Evans (PhD with distinction Dalhousie University 1982) retired from UBC in June 2023 after 43 years of university teaching. Ms. Kutulakos has re-centered the Council’s activities around providing business services\, catalyzing business growth and activity\, and advocating for stronger Sino-Canadian bilateral trade and investment. This has resulted in extensive public outreach activities\, internal infrastructure improvements\, the launch of new programs such as the Business Incubation Centre\, and thriving member relations. \nPrior to joining CCBC\, Ms. Kutulakos worked for 11 years in marketing\, product development\, and management with a major multinational corporation\, where she had multiple assignments involving China. Ms. Kutulakos managed worldwide product businesses that marketed to China and used China-based sources of supply. She was also involved in several projects requiring cooperation with the Chinese government. Ms. Kutulakos has led both established and start-up businesses within the context of a global corporation and has broad emerging market business experience\, and has been involved in the Greater China region since the late 1980s when she lived and worked in Taiwan. There\, she was the first non-Chinese employee of a local high-tech start-up firm\, where she gained a deep understanding of Chinese business practices. \nA fluent Mandarin speaker\, Ms. Kutulakos’s interest in China began at the University of Wisconsin\, where she studied Chinese\, marketing\, and international business. She holds an MBA in finance and operations from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester. She frequently speaks on China issues\, including marketing\, trade\, investment\, and Canada-China relations. \n \nPaul Evans\nProfessor Emeritus in the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs\nUniversity of British Columbia (UBC) \nPaul Evans (PhD with distinction Dalhousie University 1982) retired from UBC in June 2023 after 43 years of university teaching. He is currently Professor Emeritus. \nHis academic appointments have been as follows: \n\nAssistant Professor\, Acadia University\, 1980-81\nAssistant\, Associate and Professor\, Department of Political Science\, York University\, 1981-97;\nDirector\, University of Toronto – York University Joint Centre for Asia Pacific Studies\, 1991-96;\nVisiting Professor\, Asia Center\, Harvard University\, 1997-99;\nActing Director\, Liu Institute for Global Issues\, 2004-5;\nDirector\, Institute of Asian Research\, 2008-11 and 2014;\nVisiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong\, 2011 and 2013;\nVisiting Professor and Head of the International Academic Advisory Panel to the School of Social Sciences\, Singapore Management University\, 2013-16.\nVisiting Pok Rafeah Chair\, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia\, 2022-23.\n\nBetween 2005 and 2008\, he was seconded from UBC to serve as the Co-CEO and Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. And between 2020 and 2023 he held the HSBC Chair in Asian Research at UBC. \nA regionalist rather than country specialist\, he has held visiting fellowships at the Australian National University (1988); National Chengchi University in Taiwan (1989); Chulalongkorn University (1989); the East-West Center (1995); and the National Institute for Research Advancement in Tokyo (1999) and spoken at more than fifty universities and think tanks across the region. \nAn advocate of cooperative and human security\, he has been studying and promoting policy-related activity on track-two security processes and the construction of multilateral institutions since 1988. He was a co-founder of the Council for Security Cooperation in Asia Pacific (CSCAP)\, the Canadian Consortium on Human Security\, and the co-founder of the Canada-Korea Forum. He has directed exchange and partnership projects with fifteen research institutes in Asia and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs funded by governments and foundations in Canada\, Japan\, the United States\, China\, Taiwan\, South Korea\, Thailand and Indonesia. Between 1990 and 2002 he organized two dozen meetings involving participants from North Korea. \nHe is currently a Canadian representative on the ASEAN Regional Forum’s Experts and Eminent Persons Group. \nA member of the Global Council of the Asia Society in New York\, he also sits on the editorial boards of The Pacific Review\, the Chinese Journal of International Politics\, the China Quarterly for International Strategic Studies\, and Mexico y la Cuenca del Pacifico. \nHis graduate and undergraduate teaching at UBC focused on Global China and World Order. \nThe author or editor of seven books\, his first was a biography of John Fairbank\, his most popular the two editions of a lexicon of Asia Pacific security terminology (with David Capie)\, and his most recent “Engaging China: Myth\, Aspiration and Strategy in Canadian Policy from Trudeau to Harper\,” published in 2014. \nHis recent writings and media commentaries have focused on Canada-China relations\, Asian security dynamics\, and the emergence of techno-nationalism as a defining force in regional affairs. Ms. Ygartua has over 10 years of marketing experience in the technology\, marketing research\, communications and art sectors. Prior to joining CCBC\, she was Marketing Manager at the China-Britain Business Council based in the UK\, promoting trade and business with China and organizing high-calibre events involving the Chinese Premier and the Prime Minister of Great Britain. \nMs. Ygartua spent several years living in China\, where she studied and worked for a local company that developed products for the Chinese market. Ms. Ygartua studied Mandarin at the University of Nanjing and Nanjing Normal University. She holds a BA in Chinese and BSc in Social and Economic Geography from Uppsala University\, Sweden.
