He was appointed Chief Representative for Greater China and relocated to Shanghai in June 2017. Immediately prior to his current assignment, Chia Wan was EDC\u2019s Chief Representative for the Southeast Asia region based in Singapore. Chia Wan is currently responsible for the overall market coverage strategy for EDC in Greater China. His role includes trade creation, the origination and facilitation of financing transactions with state-owned enterprises (SOEs), large corporations and MNCs in China.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ivy Wang <\/p>\n Ivy Wang is the China Chief Representative\/Managing Director of Atlantic Canada Business Network (ACBN). She was previously a Project Coordinator when she first joined the company in 2005, formerly known as CANLink Global, and was promoted to General Manager of the business development division. Ivy became the Managing Director of CANLink Global and the company was renamed as Atlantic Canada Business Network (ACBN) in 2008. ACBN is a private Canadian company that focuses on Canadian seafood and agri-food business development in China, with offices in Halifax, Shenzhen, and Shanghai.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ivy has over 20 years of business experience dealing with business development at the China marketplace.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Marie Manning<\/strong> <\/p>\n Marie Manning is the Vice President of Business Development and Chief Commercial Officer with Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA). In this role she is responsible for all commercial activities, including the development of passenger and cargo air services, overseeing land development and concessions, establishing amenities and services to create a positive airport experience for passengers, as well as managing the organization\u2019s reputation and promoting the airport and the region as an attractive location for investment. Over the 18 years in the airport industry, she has led teams that received awards for marketing, public relations, crisis communications, business development and customer experience.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Marie holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) Co-op degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Victoria.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Alix Li<\/strong> <\/p>\n Based in Shanghai, Alix was appointed as Vancouver Fraser Port Authority\u2019s Chief Representative \u2013 Asia in March 2015. In this role, Alix leads the company\u2019s team of marketing representatives in the promotion of the Vancouver gateway and the development of new trade opportunities in the Asia Pacific region.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Prior to his assignment to Shanghai, Alix has been Manager Trade Development for Vancouver Fraser Port Authority since 2009. Alix built strong customer relationships with container shipping lines and major shippers to maintain and grow the container business through the Port of Vancouver. Alix has also worked for the Vancouver Airport Authority as Manager Cargo Marketing from 2006-2009, where he helped expanding the Vancouver International Airport\u2019s profile as a viable air cargo hub to the world\u2019s major airlines and freight forwarders.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Alix has an MA degree in Economics from Queen\u2019s University after completing his BA with a joint major in Economics and Comparative Development Studies from Trent University.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n About the moderator:<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Edward Dai<\/strong> <\/p>\n Edward Dai is responsible for membership services, coordinating trade and investment events in the YZD and South China region, connecting Canadian delegations with municipal- and provincial-level Chinese governments, and promoting bilateral economic relations through his network of contacts across China.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Prior to joining CCBC, Edward spent over 17 years in the commercial conference industry. He was involved in large-scale business events, sales, and operations in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Americas, with a focus on the multi-variant China market. With his significant knowledge of the Chinese business community, Edward is able to work with Chinese companies at all levels, from central-state corporations to private firms.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Edward is proficient in both English and Chinese. China is Canada\u2019s second largest export market and Canadian exports to China grew at the highest rate seen since 2018. Exporting goods to China can be both an attractive and daunting experience for small and medium-sized enterprises. The first session of the 2022 China Ready Series explores how to ensure a smooth and consistent export experience to the Chinese market.
