After spending nearly a decade working in international business development and marketing for multimillion dollar brands and start-ups\, Samuel believes that it is imperative for companies to think globally while developing their business development strategies no matter what stage they are in. For the past four years\, Samuel has been working with Global Affairs Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service to provide strategic international business development advice to Canadian companies in their quest to get export ready and thrive in the global marketplace. \nSamuel holds a BA in public policy and administration from York University\, a MA in public and international affairs from the University of Ottawa\, and holds a CITP®|FIBP® designation from the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT). \n \nJonathan Brasnett\nSecond Secretary and Trade Commissioner (Consumer Products)\nTrade Commissioner Service\n \nJonathan Brasnett\, Second Secretary and Trade Commissioner (Consumer Products) at the Embassy of Canada to the People’s Republic of China\, began his role in Beijing September 2022. He works with a team of highly experienced local staff to promote Canadian brands in a variety of consumer products sub-sectors\, from apparel and accessories\, home décor and sports equipment\, to mother and baby products\, natural health products and cosmetics. He helps Canadian companies develop strategies for success in the China market and find suitable partners to facilitate sales through either online or offline channels. Jonathan has had a long-standing interest in China\, first coming to Beijing in 2012 to study Mandarin.
