| The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada Survey of Canadian Business in China 2010 has been posted. - August 18, 2010
The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada Survey of Canadian Business in China 2010 has been posted here and CCBC is encouraging members to consider participating in this important research. "Business decision-making needs to be grounded in reality and within an informed framework, so survey research such as this 2010 Canadian Business in China survey is very, very important to CCBC members, said CCBC Executive Director Sarah Kutulakos. "At the same time, Canadian policy-makers need as much information as possible to be able to create a useful and supportive trade policy infrastructure." Participating in the survey offers CCBC members and other Canadian businesses an opportunity to have their voices heard, to help inform the broader perspective and to ensure that government has the data necessary to make the best decisions. The survey will be available until the end of September and APFC hopes to have initial analysis completed in October. CCBC is a sponsor of this important survey.
Letter from ASIA PACIFIC FOUNDATION OF CANADA
Dear Respondent,
We invite you to support the Survey of Canadian Business in China 2010. The survey is conducted by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada with the support of the Canada China Business Council and the Government of Quebec.
The focus of this survey is on the challenges and constraints faced by Canadian business in China. The results of this survey will help identify ways in which policy-makers from both countries can work to address those challenges. While there have been studies of the obstacles faced by businesses from other countries, this survey is the first to focus on Canadian companies.
The survey results will be treated in the strictest confidence and will be used only as input into aggregate figures. There will be no correlation of answers to individual companies. The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.
If our message inviting you to participate has been sent to the wrong person in your organization, please accept my apologies, and forward the email with the link to this survey’s website to the appropriate person.
By completing the survey, you will be eligible for a lucky draw of ONE business class return ticket from Vancouver to Beijing provided by Air China (some conditions applied).
Finally, I would like to thank you for your cooperation. Please click here to start the survey:
Best regards.
Kenny Zhang
Senior Project Manager

| CCBC Executive Director Elected Independent Director of ICBC Bank Canada - July 8, 2010Dear CCBC Board Members,
Since the very successful Gala dinner with President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Harper organized by the CCBC, many of you may have seen the announcement in the papers about the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Canada) launching their operations in Canada. Following their acquisition of 70% of the Bank of East Asia (Canada), the Bank of East Asia (Canada) will be known as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Canada). ICBC plans to use the 6 existing branches as a beachhead for its Canadian expansion. The chairman of the ICBC Group, JIANG Jianqing, and Madame WANG Lili, executive director of the parent bank and Senior Executive Vice President of ICBC, were both on hand for a large celebration in Toronto today that included Ambassador Lan, Minister Flaherty, and a host of others including some CCBC Board Members.
Related to this, I am delighted to inform you that at the Annual General Meeting of the shareholders of the new Bank, Sarah Kutulakos was elected an independent director. This is important recognition for the work Sarah is doing for the Canada-China relationship and not to mention her business acumen. It also reflects well on the CCBC and I strongly encouraged her to accept this role when it was suggested to her. While I doubt that there will be issues that could become a conflict for Sarah in her role at the CCBC, I have asked her to keep Peter Harder and me apprised of any such potential and should any directors have questions in this regard, please don’t hesitate to contact Peter or me directly.
Congratulations Sarah!
Peter Kruyt
Chairman
